TEMPORARY WORKS · EVERYDAY ACCESS

Keep the city
connected.

One closed corner can turn a short trip into a long one.
Gapline shows who gets cut off — and what to fix first.

01 / THE IDEA

Street works are planned block by block.
Access is experienced as a whole.

THE GAPLINE PRINCIPLE

Don’t count reports. Count the access they interrupt.

A simple, explainable network model helps a city team see how one small work zone changes access across the district.

04

RESIDENT SIGNAL

Report a street change

Tell the city desk what changed. It will stay provisional until someone checks it.

This prototype stores reports in this browser only. Nothing is sent to the City of Kraków.

EXPLAINABLE BY DESIGN

One closure.
Different impact.

Gapline calculates the shortest usable path on a small pedestrian network. Step-free profiles exclude stair-only links. A confirmed closure removes a link; a surface issue adds a small travel-effort penalty.

For each public destination, the model compares travel time before and after a disruption. It multiplies added minutes by a simple destination weight: health and education count more than culture. The score is a triage aid for this demo network, not a real-world impact measurement.
